Acclaimed pianist/composer Antonio Ciacca is hot off of his Big Band debut at Dizzy's Club Coca-ColaOct. 8-9, and is preparing for an Israeli tour Nov. 1-3. This summer he toured Europe playing at jazz festivals in Italy, with gigs in Poland to Latvia. Antonio is a prolific composer/band leader, not a sideman. While he is known for his academic achievements as the previous Director of Programming for Jazz at Lincoln Center (for 4 years) and is currently teaching at Juilliard, he is a musician first and foremost. He has played with Art Farmer, James Moody, Lee Konitz, Dave Liebman, Mark Murphy, Benny Golson, Steve Lacy, Wynton Marsalis, Dennis Irwin, Ali Jackson, etc. Antonio is comfortable in a trio, quartet, quintet, and big band setting and has CDs to his credit as a leader. He is one of the few New York jazz musicians that can claim he has a gig every night - performing as the house band at the respected New York City SETAI restaurant/dinner club.
