JAZZ PIANO WORKSHOP

ANTONIO CIACCA

Jazz pianist, bandleader, and educator brings his wealth of musical experience to Peekskill, NY, on Saturday, October 1 for a day-long intensive jazz workshop. Taking place at the Ford Piano in downtown Peekskill, the music workshop will provide participants of all ages and skill levels with intensive training in jazz harmony, theory, and improvisation, and will also give students an opportunity to form bands and perform in a dynamic and fun environment.
 
Antonio Ciacca and his bandmates will keep the day moving briskly through a variety of small group discussions, one-on-one practice sessions, and master class activities to ensure that participants receive top-notch support throughout the day. That evening, Antonio will lead his band in a performance at the Ford Piano Theater. Here is the line up:

Hollis Avenue - by Jim Santella

Italian pianist Antonio Ciacca’s modern mainstream quartet session breathes dramatic fire and still contains the necessary dollop of lyrical charm. Thirty years old, favoring Thelonious Monk’s compositional spontaneity, and aware of the need for balance in one’s work, Ciacca leads two different quartets through several standards and a few originals.

Rush Life - by John Barron

Italian pianist Antonio Ciacca is the kind of musician who displays his influences without reservation. Steeped in the tradition of bebop and gospel piano, the New York resident is focused on swinging as hard as he can. Evidence of this can be heard on Rush Life, a hard-blowing quintet recording with tenor saxophonist Stacy Dillard, trumpeter Joe Magnarelli, bassist Kengo Nakamura and drummer Rodney Green.
